These opportunities form part of an innovative statewide program delivering workshops, resources and peer support to families across Queensland.

The Role

Do you have lived experience supporting a child or young person with complex mental health and want to use your journey to help other families?

We’re seeking 2 x Part Time Peer Facilitators (0.6 FTE – 3 days per week) to join a passionate and growing peer workforce team.

This is a unique peer workforce opportunity where your lived experience becomes your greatest professional strength. Working alongside another Peer Facilitator, you’ll support families across Queensland by co-facilitating evidence-informed workshops, sharing practical resources and helping families navigate often complex mental health, education and community support systems.

This is not a counselling role. Instead, you will use your lived experience to educate, empower and instill hope in other families facing similar challenges.

The successful applicants will ideally be available to work:

• Position One: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
• Position Two: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Some flexibility may be available for the right candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Co-facilitate workshops and online webinars alongside another Peer Facilitator.
• Build relationships with community organisations to promote workshops and available supports.
• Engage with stakeholders via phone, Microsoft Teams and face-to-face.
• Assist with planning, administration and promotion of workshops and events.
• Develop and review workshop resources, presentations and participant materials.
• Create safe, engaging and inclusive learning environments for workshop participants.
• Represent the organisation at community events and networking opportunities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement through participant feedback and collaborative resource development.
• Undertake administrative tasks to support successful program delivery.
• Participate in supervision, professional development and team collaboration.

About You

Mandatory Requirement

This is a designated peer workforce position.

Applicants must have lived or living experience as a:

• Parent
• Family member
• Unpaid carer, or
• Kin

of a child or young person experiencing complex mental health challenges.

Importantly, this experience must have had a significant and ongoing impact on your life, such as navigating mental health services, advocating within education and healthcare systems, supporting hospital admissions or experiencing substantial impacts on family life, wellbeing or employment.

We’re looking for someone who has processed their own journey sufficiently to use their experience professionally, providing hope, education and encouragement to other families.

You’ll also bring:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence speaking with groups and facilitating discussions.
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Good organisational and administrative abilities.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office.
• Emotional resilience, self-awareness and professionalism.
• A collaborative, compassionate and strengths-based approach.

Experience in workshop facilitation, peer work, community services, education, allied health, customer engagement or training will be highly regarded. Workshop facilitation experience is desirable but can be taught.

Mandatory Requirements

• Current Queensland Driver Licence.
• Current Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children Check), or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
• Ability to obtain a National Police Check.
• Willingness to travel throughout Queensland, including approximately one to two overnight trips per month.
• Access to a private vehicle when required (kilometric reimbursement provided).

Remuneration & Benefits

• SCHADS Level 4 – $92,286.48 – $99,294.52PA + 12% Super

This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) position. The salary will be paid on a pro rata basis, meaning you’ll receive 60% of the full-time salary, plus superannuation and applicable benefits.

• 2 x Part-Time (0.6 FTE) Fixed-Term positions until 30 June 2027.
