Due to significant growth and expansion, Red Centre Support Services is recruiting for multiple Residential Youth Worker positions and welcomes applications from candidates interested in relocating to Mount Isa.

Relocation & Accommodation Support

Red Centre Support Services understands that relocating is a significant decision and offers relocation support* to help successful candidates transition to Mount Isa.

Depending on individual circumstances and operational requirements, support may include:

  • Flights to Mount Isa provided for successful relocating candidates
  • Shared accommodation (including utilities) provided at no cost* for approximately the first three months, with heavily subsidised accommodation arrangements available thereafter
  • Fully furnished accommodation with private bedrooms and shared living spaces
  • Access to shared vehicles to assist with transportation
  • Relocation assistance considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Ongoing support to help employees settle into Mount Isa and their new role

Accommodation arrangements currently consist of fully furnished shared homes with private bedrooms, shared common areas, household furniture, whitegoods, kitchen items, laundry facilities and linen provided.

For candidates relocating with partners, families or other personal circumstances, alternative relocation support arrangements may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

About The Role

Residential Youth Workers play a vital role in supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma, disruption and complex life challenges.

Working within trauma-informed and therapeutic frameworks, you will help create safe, stable and supportive home environments where young people can heal, develop life skills and build positive futures.

The role operates within a 24-hour residential care environment and may include:

  • Day shifts
  • Afternoon shifts
  • Sleepover shifts
  • Overnight shifts
  • Weekend work
  • Public holidays

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care, supervision and emotional support to young people
  • Support routines, education, appointments, recreational activities and community participation
  • Build positive and professional relationships with young people
  • Implement care plans, behaviour support strategies and therapeutic interventions
  • Respond calmly and safely to challenging behaviours and crisis situations
  • Support young people to develop independence, emotional regulation and life skills
  • Maintain accurate documentation, shift reports and case notes
  • Promote culturally safe, respectful and inclusive environments
  • Contribute positively to team culture and service delivery

Qualifications & Experience

Experienced Residential Youth Workers

Applicants with residential care experience and relevant qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply.

Candidates with Transferable Experience

Applicants from Disability Support, Aged Care, Mental Health and Community Services backgrounds are encouraged to apply where they can demonstrate transferable skills and a genuine interest in supporting young people.

Candidates who do not currently hold a relevant qualification may still be considered where they are willing to enrol in a relevant qualification pathway.

Essential Requirements

  • Current Queensland Blue Card – or ability to obtain
  • National Police Check (within the last 3 months) – or willingness to obtain
  • Current unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification – or willingness to obtain
  • Relevant qualification or willingness to enrol where appropriate
  • Minimum qualification requirement of Certificate IV level or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Ability to work a rotating roster including sleepovers, weekends and overnight shifts

Working Rights

Applicants with Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or ongoing unrestricted Australian work rights are encouraged to apply.

Other visa holders may be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on visa conditions, experience, qualifications and long-term suitability.

Salary

Competitive SCHADS Award rates plus applicable penalties, sleepover allowances, overtime and superannuation. Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and role classification.

Indicative Pay Rates

  • Youth Worker Level 1.2 (Full-Time): $27.15 per hour base rate
  • Youth Worker Level 1.2 (Casual): $33.94 per hour base rate
  • Youth Worker Level 2.2 (Full-Time): $35.67 per hour base rate
  • Youth Worker Level 2.2 (Casual): $44.59 per hour base rate

Higher rates apply for sleepovers, night shifts, weekends and public holidays, providing strong earning potential for employees working across a rotating roster.

Combined with approximately three months of free accommodation and utilities, ongoing subsidised accommodation options, and penalty rates available across the roster, this creates a compelling opportunity for candidates looking to improve their financial position while building their career.*
