The Role
Are you an experienced Human Resources leader looking for an opportunity to influence organisational strategy while leading a high-performing People & Culture function?
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Human Resources Manager to join a well-established community services organisation supporting children, young people, families and communities across South East Queensland.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the organisation’s Human Resources strategy while leading a dedicated HR team.
This is a genuine leadership opportunity where you will drive workforce strategy, employee engagement, organisational change, compliance and continuous improvement, ensuring the organisation attracts, develops and retains a highly engaged workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop the Human Resources team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
- Develop and implement strategic workforce initiatives aligned with organisational objectives.
- Partner with senior leaders to provide expert HR advice and support across all areas of the employee lifecycle.
- Lead complex employee relations matters, investigations, performance management and workplace coaching.
- Drive organisational change, workforce planning and employee engagement initiatives.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, retention and succession planning strategies.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, National Employment Standards, Fair Work requirements, the SCHADS Award and organisational policies.
- Lead the review and development of HR, governance and workplace health and safety policies.
- Oversee organisational compliance relating to Blue Cards, Child Safety Checks, employee records and workforce reporting.
- Manage WorkCover, rehabilitation and return-to-work processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR systems, processes and organisational capability.
- Contribute as an active member of the Senior Management Team and support strategic planning across the organisation.

About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline is highly regarded; however, candidates with a Diploma-level qualification and extensive relevant Human Resources experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Significant Human Resources leadership experience, preferably within the Community Services sector. Candidates with experience supporting Child, Youth and Family Services will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic HR initiatives.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing HR teams.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, Fair Work, National Employment Standards and contemporary HR practices.
- Experience managing complex employee relations, investigations and organisational change.
- Highly developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery.
- High levels of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
Experience within Community Services, Child Protection, Human Services, Not-for-Profit or similar sectors will be highly regarded.
Knowledge of the SCHADS Award and Queensland Child Protection sector is desirable.
Mandatory Requirements
- Current Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Open Queensland Driver Licence
- Ability to obtain a Child Safety and Personal History Check (LCS2). Please note this clearance process can take up to six weeks to be finalised
- Ability to undertake Hope and Healing Framework training
