The Role 

We are recruiting for a Family Support Specialist – Intensive Bail Initiative. This role is Full Time, working 38 hours per week Monday-Friday. Hours will generally be between 8am-8pm, negotiable upon commencement. 

The role is a Fixed Term Contract, funded until the end of June 2025 with potential for extension depending on funding. 

The role will be located in Mount Isa, QLD. Work will be based from a central office location, with outreach supports required. 

As a Family Support Specialist, you will support the families of high-risk young people on bail through intensive case work, follow-up and referrals to other specialist services.  Based in Mount Isa, you’ll be part of our Intensive Bail Initiative team and report to the Team Leader.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Providing holistic, trauma-informed case management and delivering wrap-around support to the families of adolescents who are on bail
  • Identifying strengths and establishing goals for the young people and their families, and reviewing progress towards these goals
  • Identifying where additional assistance and external services are required, and providing appropriate information, support and referrals
  • Promoting skills which increase health, safety and development 

To Be Successful

  • Demonstrated experience in case management and knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Demonstrated experience in working with the families of young people who have been in contact with the justice system
  • Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and families
  • Strong report writing, analytical and evaluation skills, including data collation and analysis

 

Other requirements

  • Degree in a relevant human services field and/or significant equivalent experience
  • Current Blue Card 
  • Ability to pass a National Police Check 
  • Drivers License Class ‘C’ (Open)

 

Salary and Benefits
