The Organisation
Our client, Lifeline Darling Downs and Southwest Queensland Limited (LDDSWQL) are currently seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join the team as a Domestic and Family Violence Support Practitioner, working in the Safe Connections program in St George.
This position is full time, based in St George, QLD. Regular travel to nearby towns in the Western Region is required, and a work vehicle/accommodation is supplied when travelling.
About the Role
The Domestic and Family Violence Support Practitioners (DFVSP) will be the first point of contact for victims who require domestic and family violence or sexual violence support. This will include providing direct support services as well as working closely with local service providers to ensure a strong multi-agency response to domestic and family violence and sexual violence is provided.
The DFVSP will be central to a client’s journey through the service system acting as service navigators and key conduits for information sharing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high quality and timely crisis and triage responses, including risk assessment and the addressing of immediate safety and support needs of survivors of DFV including facilitating access and referrals to required services.
- Provide specialist client centered case management and advocacy support to meet the ongoing safety and support needs of survivors and their families, including but not limited to:
- Safety Planning
- Complex Case Management support
- Stakeholder Management
- Domestic and Family Violence Education
- Facilitating referrals to other relevant services to meet the support needs of the client (e.g. parenting support, housing, financial counselling)
- Facilitating access to therapeutic counselling interventions
- Develop strong working relationships with key referral agencies who can provide culturally appropriate interventions to perpetrators of violence based on local need and ongoing safety and risk assessments.
- Research, develop and build on existing programs and associated training in ways that are flexible, creative and which reflect the continually developing needs of families.
Mandatory Requirements
- Tertiary degree or qualifications relevant to counselling, case management practice, social work or psychology
- Highly motivated and engaged person who has demonstrated experience working with domestic and family violence survivors and perpetrators.
- Current drivers’ licence
- Blue Card
- Ability to pass a National Police Check
