Counsellor Support Worker 

Summary:

The role of Counsellor Support Worker (CSW) significantly contributes to the delivery of domestic violence support services to impacted women residing in Queensland. The key responsibilities of the CSW role is to support the Crisis Intervention Counsellors and Team Leaders by arranging emergency accommodation and travel for clients, assisting with the referral processes, data entry into various systems and answering the client and service line. Other administrative activities may arise as required to support a high-quality service delivery.

Counsellor Support Workers assist Crisis Intervention Counsellors and the broader team by triaging calls, taking action on client-related tasks such as arranging emergency accommodation and travel and assisting with referral pathway procedures. Counsellor Support Workers also contribute to the safety of service users through the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of work (e.g., concise database entries and prompt action to allocated tasks).

Remuneration:

  • SCHADS Level 3 – from $37.72 per hour (Pay point depends on the experience level), shift penalties (if applicable), plus super. 

Mandatory Requirements:

  • 1+ years of professional experience in the social and community service sector.
  • Exceptional and effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Confident IT and telephone communication skills with a proven ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Proven ability to remain calm in sensitive situations – experience in a fast-paced environment is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the effects, causes and dynamics of domestic and family violence.
  • Blue Card
  • Ability to pass National Police Check – will be conducted by our client
  • Right to work in Australia
  • Willingness to attend and work on-site.
  • Availability and/or flexibility across 24/7 roster.

Other Information:

  • Onsite parking is available for staff who work evenings (past 8pm) and overnights. Evening and overnight staff are not required to pay the parking fee.
  • The office is in a Central Brisbane location, and is next to a train station and paid parking lots.
  • 1 week of training from 9 am – 5 pm and 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday. In Week 2/3 each new starter must complete the following shadow shifts prior to commencing their contracted base roster. 2x 8am – 4pm, 2x 9am – 5pm, 2x 11am – 7pm or 12pm-8pm (this is allocated based on current staff availabilities). If a new starter’s base roster consists of any 3pm – 11pm or 7:30pm – 6:30am shifts, they will need to do 1-2 shadow shifts for those times.

Shift Times: Monday – Sunday

MORNING: 7am – 3pm, 8am- 4pm, 9am – 5pm, 10am – 6pm

AFTERNOON: 12 pm – 8 pm

EVENING: 3 pm – 11 pm

OVERNIGHT: 7:30 pm – 3:30 am (weekends 6 pm – 3 am)
