About the Family Wellbeing Service
The Family Wellbeing Service operates under the Family Led Decision Making (FLDM) Framework, placing families’ knowledge, story, and vision at the centre of case planning.
The multidisciplinary team works across mental health, domestic and family violence, child protection, early childhood development, and community engagement to support families with complex needs through flexible, culturally safe responses. Support is delivered across office, community, and outreach settings, including home visits where appropriate.
The Role
Our client is seeking a Family Wellbeing Practitioner to deliver culturally safe, family-centred case management and early intervention support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, and families.
The role involves working alongside families in both community and outreach settings to strengthen parenting capacity, improve safety and wellbeing, and build resilience through practical support, advocacy, and coordinated referrals. Practitioners contribute to program outcomes through high-quality service delivery, data collection, and reporting in line with funding and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide culturally safe, family-centred case management and practical support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, and families
- Develop, implement, and review family-led case plans tailored to each family’s needs
- Support families to access services, referrals, and community resources, including advocacy where needed
- Deliver parenting guidance, family support, and practical interventions to build resilience and strengthen relationships
- Collaborate with Elders, community leaders, and partner agencies to ensure holistic, culturally grounded support
- Maintain accurate and timely case records, reports, and data in line with organisational policies and funding requirements
- Identify risks, respond to safeguarding concerns, and act in accordance with policy and legislation
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and professional development to maintain best practice
Role Requirements
- Experience in community services, social work, psychology, youth work, or early childhood with a focus on child protection
- Strong knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities
- Proven ability to work effectively with families, children, and external agencies
- Excellent communication, organisational, and case planning skills
- Competence in Microsoft Office and database systems
Probity Requirements
- Minimum Certificate III in Community Services or related field
- Current QLD Driver Licence
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a ‘Positive Notice’ Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain (the employer will cover this cost).
- Willingness to undergo a National Police and Criminal History Check (the employer will cover this cost).
Remuneration and Benefits
- SCHADS Level 4 – $88,099.44 – $94,791.84 per year + 12% super
