Our Client 

Our client is a respected, community-based not-for-profit organisation committed to supporting vulnerable and marginalised families. They work to break down barriers that prevent people from accessing safe housing, healthcare, education, and meaningful community connections.

Through outreach, advocacy, and targeted family support, they provide practical, trauma-informed assistance to families experiencing crisis, including children and young people. Their work is guided by a strong commitment to social justice, equity, and child safety, ensuring that all participants are supported in a respectful, safe, and empowering way.

The Role

Family Support and Advocacy Worker will provide intensive family support to families who are also experiencing homelessness or housing instability. You will work directly with parents and children living in motels, temporary accommodation, or newly secured housing, helping them strengthen safety, wellbeing, and family stability.

You’ll collaborate closely with Child Safety, Housing, and community services to coordinate wrap-around supports that address both family needs and housing challenges. The role combines practical housing advocacy with therapeutic, relational support to help families build capacity and transition into sustainable accommodation.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Partnering with parents to address child safety concerns and enhance protective factors
  • Providing practical and emotional support to families in crisis or transitional housing
  • Working collaboratively with the Department of Child Safety, Housing and community partners
  • Prioritising support for pregnant women and families with young children
  • Developing support and housing pathway plans that reflect family needs
  • Maintaining accurate case notes, reporting and data management

Role Requirements

  • Qualification in Human Services or related field (minimum Cert IV), and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in family support and/or child protection
  • Experience supporting families experiencing crisis
  • Strong communication, documentation and IT skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Current Driver’s Licence and Blue Card
  • First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Remuneration and Benefits

  • SCHADS Level 5: $100,783.28 – $105,349.92 p.a. + 12% Super
  • Salary packaging available to increase your take home pay
  • Full time or part time role (0.9 or 0.8 FTE)
  • Monday to Friday, flexible hours between 8am – 6pm
  • West End location – close to public transport and some street parking available
  • Pool vehicle, laptop and phone provided
